The Scott County Fair has kicked into full swing with the annual Beefiesta barbeque, kids pedal tractor pull and some of the livestock judging already history.
But don’t worry. There are still plenty of activities for the entire family during the final three days.
The figure-8 derby, a Christian concert in front of the grandstand and a barbeque cookoff are among attractions still to come.

Christian Concert
Gospel musician Jim Mullaney will be providing grandstand entertainment on Friday, July 23, 8:00 p.m.
Mullaney left the corporate world in the mid-1990s and developed this full-time Christian music ministry. He has performed throughout the Rocky Mountain region, but has also taken his music and ministry as far as Siberia.
A monthly ministry to inmates at the Arapahoe County Detention Center is a cornerstone of his work.
He’s been involved in music since his teens, arranging, writing and recording. He has currently produced three CDs of his Christian Music.
Earlier in the day, beef judging will wrap-up the livestock competition for local 4-Hers, along with round-robin showmanship at the indoor arena starting at 2:00 p.m.
The always-fun barnyard olympics will be held at the indoor arena at 5:00 p.m.

Throwdown Cookoff
Great tasting barbeque has always been a part of the Scott County Fair with the annual Beefiesta free feed and the tasting booths.
Now that barbeque competition will be taken to another level with the second annual Barbeque Throwdown. This new event is being billed as a combination between “Iron Chef,” “Boy Meets Grill” and “Dinner: Impossible.”
Whatever the description, it promises to be fun.
Up to 15 teams of grilling enthusiasts will showcase their barbeque skills in Patton Park starting at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday with the judging to take place at 1:00 p.m. Each team will be provided the same cut of beef and from there the skill and imagination take over.
Spectators are encouraged to show up after the parade and watch the cooks in action. Teams will showcase their talents around the shelter house while Brock Swedenborg and the Muzik Machine will emcee the competition
Of course, the big event on Saturday morning is the parade through downtown Scott City which starts at 10:00 a.m. Afterwards, people can go to the park and watch the Throwdown Cookoff or get in line to sample beef at any or all of the 11 Beefiesta tasting booths.
The afternoon will also include kids’ day activities at the outdoor arena on the fairgrounds starting at 2:00 p.m. There will be games, races and the popular chicken chase and greased pig chase.

Figure-8 Racing
The popular figure-8 race has been moved to Saturday evening, with cars to hit the track (and each other) starting at 7:30 p.m. in front of the grandstand.

Carnival excitement will be provided by D&J Shows, Dodge City, who will have wrist band night each night of the Fair.
For $20 anyone can purchase a wrist band at the carnival grounds. A wrist band can be used any night of the Fair. More than one wrist band to be used on additional nights can also be purchased.

Finishing off a full day of fun will be the fair dance featuring music by “Anthony and the Anamals from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Wrapping up a busy Fair week will be the demolition car and pickup derbies that fill the grandstand on Sunday evening starting at 7:00 p.m.
