Betty Durrant
Betty Durrant, 86, Wichita, died Feb. 5, 2010, at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita.
She was born May 29, 1923, at Garden City, the daughter of Henry and Maud (Van Winkle) Eichhorn.
She grew up in Garden City and was a 1940 graduate of Garden City High School. She later earned a master’s degree in education at Wichita State University. She moved to Scott City in 1943 and to Wichita in 1963, where she was a teacher for the Wichita school district for many years.
She was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church, Wichita, Daughter of the American Revolution, D.A.M.E.S., the Humane Society, PETA, and volunteered for the Nature Center, Wichita.
Survivors include: two sons, Steven, and wife, Karla, and Richard, all of Dodge City; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A private family funeral service was held Feb. 8 at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Garden City, with Rev. Canon F. David Titus officiating. Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
