Irene Schmidt

Irene Schmidt, 84, former resident of Atwater, Calif., died Feb. 10, 2010, at Bethel Home Inc., Montezuma. 

She was born Oct. 27, 1925, at Chickasha, Okla., the daughter of Emiel and Anna (Unruh) Koehn. 

A homemaker, she was a member of the Livingston Mennonite Church, Livingston, Calif.

On June 1, 1947, she married Marvin Schmidt at Winton, Calif. He is deceased. 

Survivors include: three daughters, Karen Koehn, and husband, Wesley, Buhl, Ida., Vernita Dirks and husband, Daryl, Scott City, and Debra Koehn and husband, Andrew, Atwater, Calif.; three brothers, Dewey Koehn, and wife, Thelma, Atwater, Calif., Delmar Nichols and wife, Harriet, and Willis Nichols and wife, Leona, all of Livingston, Calif.; one brother-in-law, Ervey Schmidt and wife, Allareicia, Livingston, Calif.; four sisters, Norma Koehn, Livingston, Calif., Letha Amoth, Buhl, Ida., Gloria Malear, Tracy, Calif., and May Koehn, Montezuma; one sister-in-law, Salena Nichols, Scott City; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son-in-law, Tim Koehn; five brothers, Roy Koehn, Franklin Nichols, Lloyd Nichols, Ervin Nichols and John Nichols; two sisters, Edith Eck and Frances Schultz; and one granddaughter, Marlene Koehn. 

Funeral service was held Feb. 15 at the Livingston Mennonite Church, Livingston, Calif. Burial was in the Winton Cemetery District, Winton, Calif.
