Junior H. Radney, DVM, 51, Wood River, Nebr., died Dec. 3, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, Nebr.
He was born June 27, 1960, at Amarillo, Tex., the son of Jerry Lee and Mary Lou (Bingham) Radney.
up in Amarillo and graduated from Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch in 1978. While in school he was active in FFA and showed livestock at most major stock shows, including the Texas State Fair.
He worked as a journeyman meat cutter during undergraduate school. He attended Texas A&M and graduated in 1990 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. While attending veterinary school he spent a semester-long sabbatical at the Meat Animal Research Center in Clay Center, Nebr.
He was a past member of the Future Farmers of America and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
On May 8, 1990, he married Tami Storbakken, DVM, at College Station, Tex. She survives.
The couple made their home in several states where he practiced animal agriculture. He worked for Shelby Jones, DVM, Scott City, from 1990-92 and again from 1998-2000.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Lea Radney, Crete, Nebr., and Janelle and Elizabeth Radney, both of Wood River; one son, Kelby, Lincoln, Nebr.; one grandmother, Alma Bingham, Amarillo, Tex.; one sister, Kim Brackett, Amarillo; two brothers, Bryan, and wife, Lorraine, Amarillo, and Brady and wife, Linda, St. Angelo, Tex.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister.
According to Dr. Radney’s wishes he was cremated and there will be a private family service.
