Tonia Christine LeVasseur

Tonia Christine LeVasseur, 39, Leoti, died Aug. 7, 2010, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, after complications from surgery.
She was born June 4, 1971, at Elmhurst, Ill., the daughter of Dick and Kim Cockerill.
She at-
tended school at Scott City, graduating in 1989 from Scott Community High School. She earned a CNA and med-aide certification in Saline County and worked in several nursing homes at Salina as well as Park Lane Nursing Home and Scott County Hospital, both of Scott City.
In 2001, she graduated from Garden City Community College and received her Registered Nursing degree. She worked in many hospitals and nursing facilities in central and Western Kansas as a traveling nurse. She worked regularly at the hospital in Tribune and most recently Dighton.
On May 7, 2005, she married Leon C. LeVasseur at Scott City. He survives.
Other survivors include: her parents, Scott City; children, Brittany and Bryan Endres, Jessica Kennedy and Chance Smith, all of Scott City; brother and sisters Trevor and Kristy Cockerill, Olathe, Meisha and Sam Jossie, Wichita, and Krista and Daniel Moore, Provo, Utah. Other family includes: Mary Jo Huey, Ainsworth, Nebr.; grandparents Estaline Cockerill, Scott City, Vernon and Zelda Mai, Russell, and Harry Spall, Valentine, Nebr.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Delmar Cockerill, and grandmother, Naomi Spall.
Funeral service will be held Sat., Aug. 14, 10:30 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ninth and Crescent, Scott City. Burial will be in the Scott County Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Price and Sons Funeral Home, Scott City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Garden City Community College nursing program.
