Huck shares mission trip to Africa with study club

Members of the High Plains Study Club met Feb. 2 at the home of Donna Eitel. Celia Fouser was the co-hostess.

Patsi Graham opened the meeting by leading the members in saying the club collect and flag salute. She gave a tribute to former member Harriet Hess.

Harriet was a fine example of a good club member. She contributed to the club in many ways throughout her years as a member. The club donated the book, “No Higher Honor” by Condoleezza Rice, in her memory.

Barbara Hutchins introduced guest speaker Catherine Huck. The Scott Community High School senior Catherine gave a slide presentation and talk about her mission trip to Uganda last summer.

She visited and worked with people in Christian churches in northern Uganda. She told about the people she met, the many orphaned children and the exciting worship she witnessed.

She shared the various projects undertaken to help the people connected with the church become more self-sufficient, like the chicken project and bread oven. Catherine also enlighten members with the history of a part of the world many knew little about. She gave a very compelling presentation.

Nineteen members answered roll call by relating, “A Mission Project I Support.”

Lucky dip was won by Jan Winter. Barb Hutchins will bring the lucky dip to the next meeting at the home of Shirley Griffith with Joy Cole as co-hostess.

Marilyn Dryer will present a program on medicinal plants.
