Reception will honor Knipps on Saturday
Gilbert and Barbara Knipp, of Scott City, are Kansas winners of the Longest Married Couple Project sponsored by Worldwide Marriage Encounter, based in San Bernardino, Calif.
They will be recognized on Sat., Feb. 4, 9:30 a.m., with a reception at their residence in the Park Place Assisted Living Apartments, Scott City.
“We are honoring the Knipps for being an inspiration to all of us and for giving hope to younger couples who face so many pressures,” according to KC and Kayla Preisner, Spearville, area leaders for the West/Central Kansas Marriage Encounter.
The longest married couple in the United States, based on the nominations submitted, is Wilbur and Theresa Faiss, Las Vegas, Nev., who have been married 78 years.
