Spaht-Hedges are united in double-ring ceremony

Shasin Larae Spaht and Benjamin Thomas Hedges were united in marriage July 10, 2010, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Burlington. Rev. Mike Klag performed the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mike and Melita McDonald, Eureka, and the late Roger Spaht.
She is the granddaughter of Caryl Spaht, Rosalia, and the late Don Spaht, the late Merle and Juanita Bacon, and Art and Sue McDonald, Eureka.
Presented in marriage by her step-father, the bride was attended by her two best friends, Mischa Teichgraeber and Codie Schlotterbeck, as maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Jordan Ervin, Ali McDonald, Sybil Rockhill and Courtney Clark.
The bride wore a white satin, A-line, floor-length gown, accented with beads and fashioned with a halter, open back and three-foot train. She carried a large bouquet of red roses.
The groom is the son of Stephen and Deena Hedges, Burlington.
He is the grandson of Sam and Sharon Hedges, and Marilyn Krebs, all of Scott City, and the late Bill Krebs. Great-grandmothers are Alexia Basgall and Alta Krebs, both of Scott City.
Best man was Andrew Hedges, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Mitchell Garrett, Mike Tolzien, Scott Giles, Lucas Short and Paul Boyd.
Ushers were Mat McDonald, Jim Uhl, Bradley Smith and Cody Isbell.
Flower girl was Olivia Valentine, niece of the bride. Ring bearer was Gabe Valentine, nephew of the bride.
Altar servers were Grant Shell and Adam Schuh. Lector was Brad Krebs, uncle of the groom.
Offertory gifts were presented by Eric and Sarah Fletcher, cousins of the groom. Carey Schuh was the music coordinator.
Felicia Teichgraeber and Paden Meyer were guest book attendants and handed out programs.
The wedding reception was at the Parish Hall.
The bride is a 2006 graduate of Eureka High School, attended Labette for one year and Emporia for two years. She is currently a certified dental assistant and has an associates degree in science. She will apply to a dental hygiene school in Tampa, Fla., later this year.
The bridegroom is a 2004 Burlington High School graduate and a 2008 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with a bachelor’s degree of science in economics. He is a 1st Lieutenant pilot in the U.S. Air Force and is currently stationed at Vance Air Force Base, Enid, Okla. Upon completion of training in southwest Oklahoma, he will fly the KC-135 out of MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.
The couple will honeymoon in the Caribbean once they move to MacDill Air Force Base at the end of 2010.
