In a winner’s bracket game, Scott City and Ulysses didn’t settle the issue until the eighth inning.
Trailing 9-7 after four innings, Scott City rallied with two runs in the bottom of the sixth after retiring Grant County in order during the final two innings in regulation.
Scott City threatened in the seventh inning, advancing runners to third base on two occasions but unable to get them home. Ulysses broke the tie with the winning run in the eighth inning.
In the second game of the double-elimination tournament, Ulysses scored four runs in the top of the seventh for an 8-5 win.
Both teams were tied 4-4 at the end of regulation after each had scored a run in the sixth to extend the game. Ulysses scored four more runs in the top of the seventh inning and Scott City could answer with only one more run in the bottom half of the inning.
