USD 466 exploring daycare for staff

What do a shortage of teachers and daycare providers have in common?

The USD 466 (Scott County) board of education is hoping that solving one problem can help solve the other.

In an effort to recruit and retain teachers, the board expressed interest and a proposal by the administration for the district to begin offering daycare to staff members.

Scott City Elementary School Principal Shawn Roberts was optimistic the program could begin next fall.

The tentative proposal would have 12 openings for 3-4-yearolds and those five-year-olds who are in a half-day kindergarten program.
