Clarinda M. ‘Cindy’ Unrein

Cindy Unrein

Clarinda M. “Cindy” Unrein, 95, died, Jan. 3, 2024, at the Scott County Hospital, Scott City.

She was born on Nov. 29, 1928, in Modoc, the daughter of Alexander Jacob and Susanna Eva (Klein) Weber.

A resident of Scott City since 1953, moving from LaCrosse, she was a restaurant owner and operator of Cindy’s Drive-In and then a bookkeeper for Hoover Electric.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Altar Society, and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, all of Scott City.

On June 21, 1949, she married Marvin H. Unrein in LaCrosse. He died on Feb. 1, 2007, in Scott City.

Survivors include her son, Terry Unrein and wife, Sharon, Wichita; daughters, Beverly Pinnell, Nixa, Mo., and Kathryn Lowenthal, Scott City; sister, Rosetta Tuzicka, Scott City; seven grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Hedy Coughlin; four brothers, Marvin Weber, Loyd Weber, Elmer Weber and Everett Weber; and one grandson, David Guhr.

Vigil service was held on Jan. 5 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

The funeral service was held on Jan. 6 at the church with Fr. Don Bedore presiding.

Graveside service was held Jan. 6 in the La-Crosse Cemetery.
