James ‘Jim’ A. Appel
James (Jim) A. Appel, 74, died July 8, 2021, at St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born on April 6, 1947, in Healy, the son of Raymond Jacob and Margaret Jean (West) Appel.
A lifetime resident of Scott City, he was a carpenter and was the past owner and operator of the Pool Hall in Scott City.
James was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Scott City, and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1968-69.
He was a lifelong member of VFW Post No. 773. Jim was past commander and present quarter master of the VFW, and a life member of Veterans of the Vietnam War, Inc.
On May 29, 2016, he married Jo De Rowe in Scott City. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Meagan J. Cramer and husband, Corey, Manhattan; one brother, Terence Appel and wife, Karen, Scott City; one sister, Norene Jaeger, Olathe; two granddaughters, Maddison Cramer and McKenzie Cramer, Manhattan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David Appel and Larry Appel; and two sisters, Sharon Appel and June Palen.
A memorial service will be held Sat., August 14, 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church, Scott City, with Rev. Larry Danforth presiding. Services will be streamed live at www.priceandsons.com.
