Alan R. Stewart

Alan R. Stewart, 82, died Aug. 16, 2021, at his home in Scott City.

H e was born on March 30, 1939, in Scott City, the son of George Eugene and Madeline (Harrington) Stewart.

Alan had been a resident of Scott City since moving from Healy in 1958. Alan worked in law enforcement most of his life and served his community as sheriff for many years.

Alan was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Scott City, as well as the Kansas Sheriff’s Association and the Kansas Police Officers Association.

On Sep. 19, 1998, Alan married Alice Workman in Scott City. She survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Marsha Hollaway, Scott City, Donna Dummermuth and husband, John, Manhattan, and Brenda Turpin and husband, Joe, Granbury, Tex.; four sons, Dan Stewart and wife, Araceli, Holcomb, Bob Stewart and wife, Kim, Olathe, Ryan Stewart and wife, Emily, Oak Grove, Ky., and Earl Stewart, Oak Grove, Ky.; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Visitation will be Sat., August 21, from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Price and Sons Funeral Home, Scott City.

Funeral service will be held Mon., August 23, 10:30 a.m., at the First Baptist Church, Scott City, with Don Williams presiding.

Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery.
