Venus Mershon Jones

Venus Mershon Jones, 72, died May 4, 2022, at the Lane County Hospital, Dighton.

S h e was born on April 19, 1950, in Garden City, the daughter of Dwight Case and Claire JoAnn (Norman) Smith.

A resident of Dighton since 1984, moving from Scott City, she was a Registered Nurse.

Mershon was a member of the Community Christian Church, Scott City, and was part of a musical group called Homestead. She was also an avid hammered dulcimer player and enjoyed the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, as well as helping organize workshops for other dulcimer enthusiasts.

She had been a member of PEO Chapter GF in Dighton since 1989.

On March 12, 1972, she married Rickey Dale Jones in Scott City. He died on March 9, 2006, in Wichita.

Survivors include her two daughters, Angela Mershon and partner, Chris Preston, Manhattan, and Amanda Claire and partner, Brent Perusse, Basalt, Colo.; one sister, Deandra Dawn and partner, Rick Stump, Luna Pier, Mich.; two grandsons, Joshua Preston and Brayden Perusse, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is also preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be Fri., May 13, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Price and Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Scott City.

A funeral service will be held on Sat., May 14, 10:30 a.m., at the Community Christian Church, Scott City, with Gerald Koehn and Ron Hess presiding. Funeral service will be live streamed at www.priceandsons.com.

Inurnment will be in the Scott County Cemetery at a later date.
