Mari Ann Masters

Mari Ann Masters, 56, Scott City, died surrounded by family after a long illness on July 31, 2022.

She was born on April 5, 1966, in Phoenix, Ariz., the youngest of four children to James and Janet (Compton) Cleary who preceded her in death, as did one sister, Phyllis Cutting.

Growing up, she had many interests and excelled at all of them, but was a world class barrel racer, starting at age four. Mari had a way with animals that was special.

In October of 1987, Mari met Curtis (Jim) Masters and they were married on March 10, 1990, in Phoenix, Ariz. He survives.

Other survivors include her stepchildren, James Masters, Wichita, and Jennifer Laughton and husband, Brent, Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, Walter Cleary and wife, Cheryl, Glendale, Ariz.; sister, Kathy Brender and husband, Kim, Show Low, Ariz.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held in Scott City at a later date. A service will also be held in Phoenix for all those who mourn her death.
