Dexter Cramer

Dexter Cramer, 80, died on Nov. 29, 2022, at his home in Lane County.

H e was born on Dec. 12, 1941, at Dighton the son of Robert Duane and Mildred Marie (Pottorff) Cramer. Dexter graduated from Healy High School in 1959 and Garden City Community College in 1961.

He earned his bachelor of arts degree in 1964 and in 1966 his Master’s degree in industrial arts from Colorado State College in Greeley, Colo.

He taught and coached for one year in LaSalle, Colo., one year in Dighton and two years in Healy before returning to the family farm and becoming a lifelong farmer-stockman in Lane County.

He was a member of Bible Fellowship Church in Dighton.

Dexter enjoyed fishing, woodworking and was the family “fix it man” but his greatest love was following his children and grandchildren in their athletics and school activities.

He built basketball goals and pitching machines for his family.

He married Judy Jennings on June 9, 1963, at Colby. She survives.

Other survivors include his four children, Mitzi Gardner and husband, Robert, Douglass, Ks., Rhonda McKinney and husband, Wes, Englewood, Dean Cramer and wife, Cindi, Healy, and Shirley Frankenbery and husband, Matt, Frontenac; a sister, Kay Martin and husband, Guy, Frederick, Colo.; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Delbert Dean Cramer.

The funeral service was Dec. 3 at Bible Fellowship Church in Dighton with Pastor Darrin Hammond officiating. Burial was in the Healy Cemetery.
