Joseph A. Gomes

Joseph A. Gomes, 44, died on Jan. 11, 2023, at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City.

H e was born on Sept. 10, 1978, in Lodi, Calif., the son of Elroy Elwood Gomes II and Arlee Frances Azevedo.

A resident of Scott City since 2006, he was an elevator operator and manager for the Scott Co-op.

On October 31, 2009, he married Cassandra Shields-Phillips in Scott City. She survives.

Other survivors include one son, Seth Gomes, Scott City; one daughter, Kyara Gomes, Scott City; mother, Arlee Peterson and husband, Douglas, Scott City; father, Rockie Gomes and wife, Sandy, Isleton, Calif.; one sister, Shelly Gomes, Isleton, Calif.; and one granddaughter, Avery Gomes, Scott City.

He was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Joseph Gomes, and one brother, Rockie Gomes.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
