Jeffrey Lynn Hopkins

Jeffrey Lynn Hopkins, 55, died, March 24, 2023, at The Heritage of Overland Park, in Overland Park.

He was born on July 28, 1967, in Scott City, the son of Leonard Hopkins and Florence Barrows.

After graduating from Scott Community High School, he attended Kansas State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering with a Master’s in finance.

In 1993, he moved to Kansas City, where he worked as a consultant in the technology and health industry.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Scott City, a Boy Scout assistant leader, Mic O Say, Wood Badge, and a lifetime member of the Kansas State University Alumni Association.

Jeff volunteered for the Industrial Engineering Advisor Council for KSU, was a De Soto school district boundary committee member and was on the high school chain gang for football games.

On Oct. 29, 1994, he married Janet Murrell in Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Wyatt Hopkins, De Soto and Garrett Hopkins, Hays; one sister, Suzanne Beaver, and husband, Jay, Scott City; mother, Suzy Berning and husband, Terry, Scott City; father, Leonard Hopkins and wife, Cloris, Montrose, Colo.; father- and mother-in-law, Bob and Carolyn Murrell, Hutchinson; brother-inlaw, Curtis Murrell; and two nephews, Michael Beaver and wife, Kassandra, and Austin Beaver and Shayna Vincent.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

The funeral service will be held on Fri., March 31, 2:00 p.m., at the United Methodist Church, Scott City, with Rev. Jeff Goetzinger and Pastor Don Williams presiding.

Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery.
