Dale Eugene Appl
Dale Eugene Appl, 90, died, April 29, 2023, at his home in Leoti.
He was born on May 3, 1932, to Martinus and Violet (Elder) Appl in Leoti.
He was a farmer and rancher as well as a past member of the Leoti Lions Club and the Antique Car Club.
He loved farming as much as he loved flying and showing everyone his farm from the air. Anyone who knew him knew that he was both candid and ornery.
On March 30, 1952, Dale married Dorothea J. VanWinkle in Dodge City. She survives.
Other survivers include three daughters, Julie Carpenter, Leoti, Trish Brunswig and husband, Bryan, WaKeeney, and Kathy Graff and husband, Darin, Neodesha; seven grandchildren, Cole Carpenter and wife, Bridgette, Shala Steele and husband, Kevan, Tyler McClayland and wife, Cheyann, Lacey Detwiler, and husband, Alex, Cara Gunderson and husband, Josh, Ty Brunswig and wife, Courtney, and Tia Mattheyer and husband, Logan; and 15 greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Katheryn Taylor; one brother, Keith Appl; and one son-in-law, Charlie Carpenter.
The funeral service was held on May 4 at the First Presbyterian Church, Leoti, with Mike Deschner presiding. Burial followed at the Leoti Cemetery.
