Marjorie E. Elder

Marjorie E. Elder, 94, died, May 27, 2023, at the Wichita County Health Center in Leoti.

She was born on Dec. 16, 1928, in Meade, the daughter of John Frederick and Vergie Irene (Morrison) Baker.

A resident of Wichita County since 1941, moving from Stratton, Colo., she was a homemaker and co-owner and operator with Gloria Long of The Sewing Box.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Leoti, clerk for the Presbyterian Church, a moderator of the United Presbyterian Women, and the Patchwork Quilters Guild in Leoti.

On April 20, 1950, she married LeRoy “Buck” Elder in Leoti. He died on Dec. 7, 2005, in Leoti.

Survivors include her son, Vaughn Elder and wife, Tina, Leoti; three daughters, Brenda Moody, Tulsa, Okla., Karen Elder and partner, Ron Rice, Antonino, Tex., and Richelle Elder, Santa Fe, N.M.; two granddaughters, Tissha Brumm and husband, Josh, Wellesley, Mass., and Tirra Carter and husband, Jordan, Scott City, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Gordon Baker; and one sister, Arlene Green.

Visitation will be Fri., June 2, from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Price and Sons Funeral Home in Leoti.

The funeral service will be held on Sat., June 3, 2:00 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, Leoti, with Pastor Steve Payne presiding.

Interment will be in the Leoti Cemetery.
