Liquetta Joyce ‘Joy’ Cole

Liquetta Joyce “Joy” Cole, 83, passed away on June 5, 2023, at Park Lane Nursing Home, Scott City.

She was born on May 17, 1940, in Modoc, the daughter of Roger and Doris (Frost) Heim.

A lifetime resident of Modoc, she was a postmaster for many years and a highly skilled horsemanship instructor.

She was a member and very active at the First Baptist Church, Scott City, as well as the American Quarter Horse Association, the High Plains Study Club, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. During her lifetime, she served as a William Carpenter 4-H Foundation board member and was a lifelong 4-H member and leader.

On Nov. 27, 1959, she married Jessie Lee Cole in Scott City. He passed away on May 14, 2018, in Westmoreland, Ks.

Survivors include her two daughters, Trina Harlow and husband, Russell, Prosper, Tex., and Robyn Lane, Modoc; one sister, Shirley Griffith and husband, Charles, Scott City; five grandchildren, Hunter and Rachel Harlow, Waco, Tex., Andrew and Megann Harlow, Van Alstyne, Tex., Chloe and Mat Fielder, Denton, Tex., Peri Lane of Jay, Okla., and Lexi and Spencer Dills, Grove, Okla.; six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Vernon Heim; and two sisters, Marjorie Riggs and Carol Hassler.

Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Price and Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Scott City.

The funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church, Scott City, on Sat., June 10, 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Kyle Evans presiding.

Interment will be held in the Modoc Cemetery.
