Patricia Ann Hammond

Patricia Ann Hammond, 69, died Aug. 9, 2023, at Minneola Hospital in Minneola.

She was born on Aug. 5, 1954, at Ulysses, the daughter of Clinton and Elsie (Ballinger) Hammond.

Patricia attended elementary school and high school in Johnson. She enjoyed her growing up years with her relatives, including holidays and Sundays at Grandma B’s. She attended Dodge City Community College, majoring in stable management, then changed her major to nursing. She was a licensed practical nurse (LPN) for 42 years before retiring. She dearly loved her nursing career and worked as a hospice nurse in Texas, which she found very rewarding.

She married Gary Roberts in 1971 and they later divorced. She loved to go on vacations with her family and was always up for a skiing trip, white water rafting, rodeo, livestock show, softball game or wrestling match.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Bobbie Jo Williams Besser and husband, Troy, Lyons, Krista Roberts, Dodge City, and Janet Mentzer and husband, Toby, Ensign; one son, Trent Roberts, Delta, Colo.; one sister, Delores Toole and husband, Ronald, Manter; one brother, Dennis Hammond and wife, Ann, Fruita, Colo.; her grandchildren, Cody Williams, Peyton Evelena Jayne Northcutt Mentzer, Taeler Roberts, Clinton Roberts, Lane Hunsberger, Shaelyn Hunsberger, Jared Roberts, Kaden Besser and Alex Phelps; great-grandchildren, Rose, Denali and Kendra; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
