Gordon W. Strickert

Gordon W. Strickert, 72, died August 2, 2024, at the Lane County Hospital, Dighton.

He was born on January 25, 1952, at Scott City the son of Gilbert and Doris Marie (Harkness) Strickert.

Gordon attended Horace Mann school in Denver and graduated from Denver North High School in 1970.

He started working at Standard Fencing Company and the Denver City Housing Authority before opening his own garage Car Tech Auto.

In 1992, he moved to Dighton and started working at Regnier Repair as a mechanic. He then became a partner in Main Street Auto. His final occupation was being a “cowboy” raising cattle, which is what he loved.

In his earlier years, he was a good baseball pitcher and earned a tryout with the Kansas City Royals. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, his casino trips, following his family and coaching us all in sports.

He was involved in drag racing “Mopars” and later he and his son did dirt track racing together.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Strickert; his children, Jamie Strickert, Escondido, Calif., Jeff Strickert, Thornton, Colo., Jason Strickert, Raytown, Mo., Susie Wiechman, Scott City, and Kyle Strickert, Holcomb; stepmother, Audrey Strickert, Lakewood, Colo.; two sisters, Belinda Hurst, Littleton, Colo., and Judy Denton, Marquette; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cheri Strickert; and two sisters, Susan Garner and Melinda Strickert.

A graveside service will be held on Fri., August 9, 10:30 a.m., at the Scott County Cemetery.
