Dorothy Stiles

Dorothy M. Stiles, 90, died Sept. 19, 2024, at her home in Scott City.

She was born on June 29, 1934, in Osage County, the daughter of John George Jacob and Etta Elizabeth (Morgan) Dague.

A resident of Scott County since 1965, moving from Wichita County, she was a homemaker who also worked alongside her husband on the farm.

She loved her family dearly. She was known for her cream and egg route, and greatly enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, sewing and meeting the needs of others where she could.

She was a member of Prairie View Church of the Brethren in Friend and served on leadership boards at Prairie View Church.

On November 17, 1957, she married Ira Vern Stiles in Friend. He survives.

Other urvivors include her daughters, Cynthia Baker, Marienthal, Debra Dirks and husband, Greg, Scott City, Elizabeth Shirk, Johnson, and Lisa DeVine and husband, Darrel, Freedom, Okla.; a sister, Betty Dague, Garden City; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Thelma Lehman; two brothers, Roy Dague and Robert Dague; and two sons-in-law, August Baker and David Shirk.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 27, 2:00 p.m., at Prairie View Church of the Brethren with Pastors Jon Tuttle and Don Williams presiding.

Interment will be in the Prairie View Church Cemetery, Friend.
