Ann M. Burgess (Anna Mae Huber), 88, Garden City, died February 21, 2025, surrounded by family at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

Ann was born on April 11, 1936, in Garden City to Jake and Maurine (Angeles) Huber.

She graduated from Garden City High School and obtained a degree in cosmetology from Seward County Community College. She owned and operated a hair salon in her home for 20 years.

In 1970, Ann married the love of her life, Steve Burgess. In 1983, Steve and Ann began building their rental property business, Garden Spot Rentals. Together they grew their business and raised their family.

She enjoyed helping Steve care for his Paso Fino Horses and her llamas. She also enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, traveling, gardening and preparing for holidays. She always made holidays special for her family and had a sense of humor to make all who were around her laugh and smile.

Ann’s kind and loving personality brought happiness to many, and she enjoyed helping and caring for others.

She is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Stewart and husband, Jacob, Holcomb, Dianne Boyer, Suzanne Kirmer and Cristena Staley all of Garden City; sisters, Palla Lang and husband, Kenny, Garden City, and Pam Kemp and husband, Phillip, Leawood; brothers, John Huber and Terry Huber, both of Garden City; grandchildren, Lexi Blackburn and Peyton Blackburn, both of Garden City, and Kolby Blackburn, Lawrence; and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steve; her daughter, Tammie Burges; and her brothers Robert Huber, Louis Huber and Jack Huber.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the special ladies who cared for Ms. Ann in her home during the past 3-1/2 years. Your love, kindness and consideration for her will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Sun., March 2, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. 7th St., Garden City.

The funeral service will be Mon., March 3, 10:00 a.m., at Garnand Funeral Home. Burial will follow immediately in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

The family suggests memorial contributions to The Burgess Scholarship at Garden City Community College.
