Preston Dunagan
Preston E. Dunagan, 81, died Feb. 27, 2025, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City.
He was born on Sept. 25, 1943, in Scott City, the son of Thomas Willard and Julia Arlene (Shull) Dunagan.
A lifetime resident of Scott City, he was a feed truck driver and worked for Brookover Cattle Company, Fairleigh Feed Yard, Crist Feed Yard and Baker Brothers Harvesting over the years.
He was a member of the Christian faith and a U.S. Army veteran.
Preston was a loyal Red Cross blood donor, donating over 15 gallons.
He started helping with the Kansas State Nut Fry in 1963. He was an avid collector of many things including golf balls he donated to the high school golf team, and beer tabs. He collected enough tabs to donate over $26,000 in stays at Ronald McDonald House.
Survivors include his brother, Thurman Dunagan and wife, Delinda, Scott City; nephews, Jason Dunagan and wife, Linda, Scott City, and Travis Dunagan, Scott City; a niece, Shannon Berry and husband, Harold, Scott City; an aunt, Eva Anderson, Arcola, Ill.; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leroy Dunagan.
The funeral service was held on March 3 at the First Christian Church, Scott City, with Rev. Rodney Hopper presiding.
Interment was in the Scott County Cemetery.
