Steven Charles Shelton, 72, died on July 2, 2025, at the Scott County Hospital, Scott City.
He was born on March 24, 1953, in Fullerton, Nebr., the son of Charles Shelton and Betty Jean (Baker) Shelton Austin.
He had been a member of the community since 1980, moving from Garden City. He was a carpenter for most of his life.
On May 3, 1980, he married Luella (Lou) Zerr in Scott City. She survives.
Other survivors include his daughter, Mandy Benton, Ingalls; step-sons, Brent Turner and wife, Shelly, Scott City, and Curt Turner and wife, Erika, Wamego; sisters, Sherry Brooks and husband, Robert, Broomfield Colo., Nikki Geier and husband, Alan, Wichita, and Elizabeth Lewis and husband, Gil, Scott City; brothers, Allen Shelton and wife, Patrice, Garden City, and Craig Shelton and wife, Patty, Siloam Springs, Ark.; multiple grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, John Allen and Vernie Mclaughlin Baker and Jess and Martha Shelton.
