Beverly Kay “Bev” Sloan, 65, Lyons, died July 26, 2025, at Hays Medical Center, Hays.

She was born on Jan. 7, 1960, in Sterling, the daughter of Buckley and Patricia (Hodges) Sloan.

Formerly of Leoti, Bev had resided in Lyons since 2001. She graduated from Sterling High School.

Bev was the former owner and operator of New Image Trucking in Lyons.

She was a member of the New Hope Church, Hutchinson, and the Lyons Chamber of Commerce.

Bev enjoyed gambling, fishing and shopping, loved collecting rocks and coins, and most of all spending time with her kids and grandkids. She had a big heart and was always caring for others.

She was married to Ricky Young for 25 years. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2021.

Bev is survived by her children, Leonard “Opie” Thurman and wife Charlotte, Lyons, Nathan Young, Slidell, La., Richard Young, Hutchinson, Geoffrey Young and wife Danielle, Slidell, La., Robert Young, Lyons, Jennifer Young, Boise, Ida., Nicole Vopat and husband Jeremy, Wilson, Savannah Bedoka and husband Jake, New Castle, Okla., and Mike Schwindt, Sterling; a brother, Jim Sloan, of Nebraska; two sisters, Lisa Boyd, of Florida, and Melissa Dodson and husband Harold, Hutchinson; and numerous grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral service will be held on Sat., Aug. 9, 10:00 a.m., at New Hope Church, 4815 E. 4th Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Brian Lee officiating.

The family suggests if you have something purple, to wear it to the service.

Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons.
