Norma Shafer

Norma June Shafer, 91, died Aug. 5, 2025, at her home in Coats.

Norma was born on Oct. 21, 1933, in Baca County, Colo., the daughter of Peter T. and Lydia (Jantz) Voth.

She was a homemaker most of her life.

On Jan. 22, 1956, Norma married Marvin Carl Shafer in Scott City. He died May 7, 2007, in Garden City.

Survivors include her sons, Kenneth Shafer and wife, Mary Ellen, Granada, Colo., Jeffrey Shafer, Coats, and Stanley Shafer and wife, Lavonna, Marquette; daughters, Nancy Mick and husband, Norm, Marquette, Jeanette Haney and husband, Rod, Winfield, Christine Byrd, Winfield, and Wendy Palmer, Coats; 27 grandchildren, 51 greatgrandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Susan Shafer and Cynthia Shafer; two grandsons, Greg Larson and Ryan Haney; one granddaughter, Anna Larson Funk; and one greatgranddaughter, Kamilah Denmond.

The funeral service was held Aug. 11 at Price and Sons Funeral Home, Scott City.

Interment was in the Scott County Cemetery.
