Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Jean LaToush

Elizabeth “Betty” Jean LaToush, 84, died at her home on Oct. 18, 2025, in Scott City.

She was born on Oct. 29, 1940, to James Edward “Eddie” and Gladys Nadine (Black) Rumney in Niobrara County, Wyo.

She had been a resident of Scott City since 1972, moving from Hays.

She was the owner of Betty’s Tropical Fish and a K-State Extension agent in Scott County for many years.

She earned a Master’s degree from the University of Nebraska and was actively involved in 4-H and the Celebrate Recovery Ministry.

Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church in Scott City.

Survivors include her son, Kurt LaToush and wife, Lindsay, Dodge City; daughter, Vonnie Schoonover and husband, Doug, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Fla.; three grandchildren, Reese and Brittanee LaToush, Utica, Angee LaToush, Ransom, and Stephanie May, Garden City; and seven greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Ray, Jim and Dean Rumney.

The funeral service will be on held on Thurs., Oct. 23, 10:30 a.m., at the First Baptist Church, Scott City, with Pastor Kyle Evans presiding.

Interment will be at the Lusk Cemetery in Lusk, Wyo., on Mon., Oct. 27, at 10:30 a.m.
