Gwen Huck
Gwen E. Huck, 84, died November 16, 2025, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City.
She was born on August 11, 1941, in Coldwater, the daughter of Ray L. and Helen (Maris) Burditt.
A resident of Scott City since 1962, moving from Winfield, she was a homemaker.
Gwen graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from Southwestern College, Winfield, in 1964, and Perkins Theological Seminary with a Certificate of Christian Education in 1990.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Christian Education Fellowship, and High Plains Study Club.
Gwen began and directed the Scott County Easter Pageant, “The Road to Redemption,” 28 times between 1971 and 2015.
She was a Sunday School teacher for 50 years and director of Christian Education at the First United Methodist Church for 25 years. Gwen was also a DJ host for KFLA Radio’s “Spin The Afternoon with Gwen.”
On August 7, 1960, she married Larry Huck in Coldwater. He died on December 26, 2020, in Scott City.
Survivors include her sons, Galen Huck and wife, Mary Kay, Cheyenne, Wyo., and Lance Huck and wife, Irene, Denver, Colo.; daughter, Suzanne Griffith and husband, Chad, Scott City; sister, Kathy Desemo and husband, Dan, Alden; 10 grandchildren, Corey Huck, Shaelee Huck, Ian Huck, Elizabeth Janssen, Catherine Huck, Asher Huck, Brinlee McNary, Maris Unruh, Cooper Griffith and Gui Griffith; and 14 great-grandchildren, Ruby, Theo and Mabel Huck, Sylvie and George Keyworth, Anne and Truman Janssen, Rowan Huck, Jude McNary, Spencer, Remi and Campbell Unruh, and Laramie and Noah Griffith.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Ryan Desemo.
The funeral service will be Thurs., November 20, 2:00 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Scott City with Dr. Galen Huck and Jeff Goetzinger presiding.
Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Ministerial Alliance Breadbasket or Hope Lives Ministry in Lira, Uganda, in care of Price and Sons Funeral Homes, Box 553, Scott City, Ks. 67871.
