Gary Eitel

Gary E. Eitel, 71, died Jan. 5, 2026, at HonorHealth John C. Lincoln Medical Center in Phoenix, Ariz.

He was born on Feb. 27, 1954, in Scott City, the son of Marvin Eugene Eitel and Mary Lou Kennedy.

He had been a lifelong resident of Scott City.

Gary married Deandra J. Billinger on March 2, 1974, in Shallow Water. She survives.

Gary was a dedicated member of the Pence Community Church.

Gary spent his life doing what he loved most - farming and ranching. Whether he was checking cattle at sunrise, watching a Kansas sunset over a freshly harvested field, or fixing a fence line, he found his greatest peace outdoors.

He was an enthusiastic Kansas State University football fan.

He is also survived by his daughters, Shelly Turner and husband, Brent, Scott City, Stephanie Fisher and husband, Cody, Overland Park, Stacie Johnson and husband, Jay, Parkville, Mo., and Shandi Elias and husband, Brian, Overland Park; a sister, Janet Eitel-Hyatt, Oklahoma City, Okla.; and step-sisters, Jynette Gibbs and husband, Phil, Susan Wiechman, and Kendra Kendrick, all of Scott City, and Denise Murphy and husband, Melvin, Olathe; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild on the way, and several nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two step brothers-in-law.

The funeral service was held on Jan. 12 at the Pence Community Church, Pence, with Pastor Don Williams presiding.

Interment was in the Scott County Cemetery.
