Susan Richards

Susan E. Richards, 61, died March 4, 2026, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City.

She was born on January 1, 1965, in Tribune, the daughter of Dan E. and Evalyn (Hoffman) Wright.

She spent half of her life in Scott City, attending Shallow Water School through eighth grade and graduating from Scott Community High School.

She attended Garden City Community College for a year.

Susan held various positions over the years, including roles at Colonial Savings, Prohealth Chiropractic, Women’s Clinic, and Richards Financial Services as an office manager.

Susan was a member of The Church of Nazarene in Scott City.

Her hobbies included shopping (QVC and Amazon specifically), cooking, reading, gardening and home improvement projects.

She was previously married to William “Bobby” Lilley, and married Craig Richards on October 20, 2013, in Kansas City, Mo. He survives.

Other survivors include her step-daughter, Summer Young and husband, Samuel, Belton, Mo.; her mother, Scott City; brothers, Brian Wright and wife, Carolyn, Reeds Spring, Mo., and Greg Wright and wife, Portia, Wichita; father- and mother- in-law, G. Edward and Patricia Richards, Marshall, Mo.; brother-in-law, Kent Richards and wife, Shannon, Lenexa; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and her beloved dog, Cazzie.

She was preceded in death by her father; brother, Larry Wright; and nephew, Brett Wright.

The funeral service was held March 9 at the First Baptist, Scott City, with Pastor Nathan Haeck presiding.

Interment was held in the Scott County Cemetery.
