Helen Marie Decker
Helen Marie (Schmidt) Decker, 81, died March 25, 2026, at the Scott County Hospital.
She was born to Malvin and Suzanna (Koehn) Schmidt on Jan. 16, 1945, in Turlock, Calif.
She attended Merquin School in Stevenson, Calif.
She was a homemaker and more.
Helen committed her life to God and began a personal relationship with Jesus in 1958. She was baptized on March 19, 1958, into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite by Min. Jesse Koehn at Livingston, Calif.
She was married to Larry Decker on April 25, 1965, at Livingston, Calif., by Min. Frank Unruh. They were married for almost 61 years. He survives.
Other survivors include her children Darwin and Darlene, Scott City, Marsha Wedel and husband, Rodney, Tonasket, Wash., Darla Unruh and husband, Darrel, Hartley, Tex., Doyle Decker and wife, Teresa, Versailles, Mo.; four sisters, Vera Koehn, Livingston, Calif., Myrna Giesbrecht, Montezuma, Janice Davis, Ponderay, Ida., Joyce and Maynard Koehn, Livingston, Calif.; three brothers, Gaylord Schmidt and wife, Marilyn, Galva, Glen Schmidt and wife, Shirley, Livingston, Calif. and Darrel Schmidt, Eldon; Mo.; inlaws, Galen and Virginia Decker, Scott City; Mary and Daniel Holdeman, Clarksville, Tex., Lorraine and Edd Williams, Bonners Ferry, Ida., and Rebecca and Merle Koehn, Deridder, La.; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, parents in-law, one greatgrandson and three brothers- in-law.
The funeral service was held on March 29 at the Scott Mennonite Church, Pence, with Scott Mennonite Church ministers presiding.
Interment was held in the Scott Mennonite Church Cemetery in Pence.
