Abram Friesen Wiebe

Abram Friesen Wiebe, 54, died August 19, 2026, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City.

He was born on August 16, 1972, in Cuauhtémoc, Mexico, the son of Peter and Marie Friesen Wiebe.

His family moved to Bolivia when he was three years old. He spent most of his childhood there until his family moved back to Mexico when he was 17.

After moving to Kismet in 1999, the family relocated to Scott City in 2002 where they have lived in the community for the past 24 years.

Abe has been a farmer most of his life and a longtime employee of Vulgamore Family Farms.

On July 7, 1996, he married Elizabeth Schmitt in Ascension, Mexico. She survives.

Other survivors include his sons, Abe Wiebe and wife, Catelyn, Scott City, and Kevin Wiebe, Scott City; daughters, Nancy (Makenzie) Wiebe, Scott City, and Judy Wiebe, Manhattan; six sisters, Elizabeth Peters, of Texas, Trudy Friesen, of Bolivia, Katharina Neufeld and husband, Martin, of Canada, Susana Wieler, of Bolivia, Anna Neufeld and husband, John, Scott City, and Aganetha Neufeld and husband, David, Plains; two brothers, Cornelius Wiebe and wife, Justina, Plains, and Peter Wiebe and wife, Aganetha, Mexico; and six grandchildren, Grant Wiebe, Jaime, Dexter, Luna, Jagger and August Wiebe, all of Scott City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers.

The funeral service was held on August 24 at the First Baptist Church, Scott City, with Pastor Kyle Evans presiding.

Interment was at the Scott County Cemetery.
