Robert Duane Wheeler, 85, died on August 31, 2026, at Park Lane Nursing Home, Scott City.
He was born on June 21, 1941, in Garden City, the son of Quincy and Ressa (Conine) Wheeler.
He was a lifetime resident of Scott City, working in telecommunications at AT&T for most of his life.
Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church in Scott City, NRA, was a past Scott City councilman, and was past president of the Girls Softball Association.
On Nov. 25, 1961, he married Neta Turley at the First Baptist Church, Scott City. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Richelle Roth and husband, Richard, Larned, Tracy Hess and husband Mike, Scott City, and Jacque Griffey and husband, Marty, Overland Park; one brother, Rodney and Pam Wheeler, Scott City; one sister, Rhonda and Mike Hudson, Scott City; nine grandchildren, Realle and Mike Stapeles of Golden, Colo., Ry and Katherine Roth, Larned, Raven Roth, Lakewood, Colo., Emily and Andrew Cordasco. Bangkok, Thailand, Tyler and Kelsey Hess, Scott City, Bo Hess, Bangkok, Thailand, Lisa and Brayden Christie, Lubbock, Tex., Tawni Griffey, Overland Park, and Connor and Viktoria Griffey, Emporia; and seven greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard; two sisters, Loretta Wakeland and LouAnn Wheeler; and a granddaughter, Reanna Roth.
Visitation will be held on Thurs., Sept. 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Price and Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Scott City.
The funeral service will be Fri., Sept. 4, 2:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, Scott City, with Kyle Evans presiding.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the First Baptist Church or Park Lane Nursing Home, in care of Price and Sons Funeral Homes, Box 553, Scott City, Ks. 67871.
Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery.
