Alice J. O’Dea

Alice J. O’Dea, 86, died Nov. 6, 2024, at the Scott County Hospital, Scott City.

She was born on Nov. 1, 1938, in St. Francis, the daughter of Ervin and Dorothy (Toohey) Gerver.

A resident of Scott City since 2009, moving from North Platte, Nebr., she had been a server for the Holiday Inn.

She was a member of the Community Christian Church, Scott City.

On Sept. 7, 1957, she married Patrick Bernard O’Dea in Oberlin. He died on July 9, 2010, in Garden City.

Survivors include her sons, Michael O’Dea, Williston, N.D., and Scott O’Dea and wife, Michelle, Hershey, Nebr.; daughters, Voleta Karel and Leighann Dugdale, North Platte, Nebr., and Betty and Jan Cummins, Olathe; daughter-in-law, Brenda O’Dea, Scott City; sister-in-law, Voleta Gerver, McCook, Nebr.; 18 grandchildren, 33 greatgrandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, one brother and three sisters.

A memorial service will be held Sat., November 16, 10:30 a.m., at Price and Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, with Pastor Steve Payne presiding.

There will be no calling times.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alice J. O’Dea Memorial Fund in care of Price and Sons Funeral Homes, Box 552, Scott City, Ks. 67871.

Interment will be in the Fort McPherson Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebr., and will be announced at a later date.
