Annabelle L. McDaniel
Annabelle L. McDaniel, 96, died Oct. 16, 2024, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City.
She was born on Feb. 28, 1928, in Ruleton, the daughter of Russell Hank and Nellie Belle (Jackson) Zeigler.
She had been a resident of Scott City since 1953, moving from Goodland.
She and her husband, Jim, were the owners and operators of McDaniel Inc., “Firestone” in Scott City from 1953 to 2000. With 47 years of retail service to the community, Jim and Annabelle became well known to many selling tires, hardware, appliances, sporting equipment and household goods, and even provided a special area for children known as “Toyland” in their store.
She was a member of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and was a charter member of the Beta Sigma Phi Chapter, both of Scott City.
On June 26, 1946, she married James W. “Jim” McDaniel in Goodland. He died on Jan. 20, 2016, in Scott City.
Survivors include her son, Rob McDaniel and wife, Lee Ann McDaniel, Benton, Ark.; daughter, Lonnie Lewis and husband, Bill, Scott City; grandson, Ryan Lewis and wife, Katie, Kansas City, Mo.; granddaughter, Adalin McDaniel, Lexington, Ky.; and two great-grandchildren, Aisley Lewis and Grayson Lewis, Kansas City, Mo.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bill Zeigler; a sister, Adeline Harper; and granddaughter, Heather Lewis.
A memorial service was held on Oct. 21 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church with Fr. Don Martin presiding.
Inurnment was in the Scott County Cemetery.
