B. Kent Graves

B. Kent Graves, 76, Healy, died Nov. 29, 2020, at the Salina Regional Health Center of COVID-19 complications. He was a farmer and the local rural mail carrier for 32 years.

H e was born Dec. 5, 1943, to Dale and Reita (Coddington) Graves in Dighton.

He was a lifetime resident of Healy except when he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Stoddard DD-566 for two tours of duty in the Tonkin Gulf.

On August 27, 1965, he married Connie Polson in the Rozel Methodist Church. She survives.

Kent was a member of the UMC of Healy, American Legion, VFW of Dighton, and the Rural Letter Carriers.

He is also survived by sons, Jay Graves and wife, Amanda, Austin, Tex., and Kale Graves and wife, Lyndsey, of Kearney, Nebr.; daughters, Ramie Schulteis and husband, Kirk, Sylvan Grove, and Amanda Lechman and husband, Anthony, Sedgwick, Colo.; seven grandsons, five granddaughters plus two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, J. Darel and Gary L.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Healy United Methodist Church on Monday, Nov. 29, at 2:00 p.m., with interment following services at the Healy Cemetery.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to Samaritan’s Purse, UMC Healy, Ks.

Arrangements were by Core Cremation, Wichita, Ks.
