Bobby ‘Bob’ Rauth

Bobby (Bob) Rauth, 80, of Roseburg, Ore., died on July 1, 2021.

B o b was born Sept. 27, 1940, in Sterling, Colo., to Joe and Elvena Rauth.

On July 10, 1960, he married Shirlee Roberts.

Bob grew up on the family ranch in New Raymer, Colo. He spent a majority of his life working with cattle and horses. He was known by many as Cowboy Bob.

Bob and Shirlee lived and worked in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oregon and Alaska during their 52 years of marriage. While in Alaska Bob worked at the Alaska Zoo as the night watchman and a friend to the animals.

Bob and Shirlee together were passionate in serving in their church with kids and youth groups. They were 4-H leaders and fostered over 70 children.

Bob is survived by his six children, Scarlet Higgins and husband, Virgil Hollis, of Anchorage, Aka.; Wesley Rauth and wife, Lynn, Myrtle Creek, Ore., Faron Rauth and wife, Justine, Wichita, Sabrina Nelson and husband, Jim, of Anchorage, Jerrod Rauth and wife, Tina Belleville, Ks., and Krys Rauth, Wichita; 13 grandchildren, 11 greatgrandchildren and 70-plus foster children.

Bob was preceeded in death by his wife, parents and a great-granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials can be sent in his name to the Alaska Zoo, 4731 O’Malley Rd., Anchorage, AK. 99507.
