Cheryl D. O’Connell

Cheryl D. O’Connell, 68, died, Feb. 11, 2022, at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City.

S h e was born on Oct. 21, 1953, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter Cheryl O’Connell of Louis Freeland and Patricia A. Casper.

A resident of Scott City since 2006, moving from Oklahoma City, Okla., she was a radiologic technologist for 25 years.

She was a member of the Baptist faith and Abate of Kansas Chapter 13.

On June 6, 2008, she married Neil O’Connell in Golden, Colo. He survives.

Other survivors include one son, John “Jake” Jones and wife, Amy, Scott City; two daughters, Suzan Gilbert, Garden City, and Shirkara Lumpkins, Newton; one brother, David Freeland, of Illinois; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lonnie “Ratty” Freeland, and two grandchildren, Trent Truax and Hunter Truax.

A memorial service will be held on Sat., Feb. 26, 2:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, Scott City, with Rev. Kyle Evans presiding.

There will be no calling times.
