Ayden Meza

Christopher Ayden Meza, 11, died August 31, 2025, at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

He was born on March 19, 2014, in Garden City, the son of Carlos A. and Laura E. Meza.

A lifetime resident of Scott City, he was a student at Scott City Middle School in Scott City.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Scott City.

Ayden enjoyed sports, video games, especially Fortnite, loved being with his family and friends, the Denver Broncos and Denver Nuggets, was an aspiring trumpet player and a proud mama’s boy.

Survivors include his parents, Scott City; brothers, Paco Banda and Gaby Garcia, Dodge City, and Junior Meza, Scott City; sisters, Stephanie Valdez and husband, Zach, Wichita, and Camila Meza, Scott City; grandparents, Oscar and Martha Gutierrez, Scott City, and Lorenzo and Eva Meza, Garden City; nephew, Adriel Valdez, Wichita; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and extended family; and his dog, Zeus.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Jesucita Rodriguez.

Public visitation will be Fri., Sept. 5, 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., at Price and Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington Street, Scott City.

Vigil service will be held Friday at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Scott City.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Don Bedore presiding.

Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery.
