Clifford L. ‘Pete’ Binns

Clifford L. “Pete” Binns, 84, died, July 10, 2023, in Scott City.

He was born on March 28, 1939, in Scott City, the son of Samuel Lee and Inez Evelyn (Needles) Binns.

A lifetime resident of Scott City, he retired from Wheatland Electric where he worked as the warehouse supervisor for over 38 years.

He was a member of the Christian faith, a Boy Scout leader, baseball coach and managed the Beach House at Lake Scott State Park for many years.

On Dec. 6, 1959, he married Emma Jean Sawyer in Scott City. She survives.

Other survivors include one daughter, Darlene Hayes and husband, Rocky, Newton; four sons, Jerry Binns and wife, Lauralei, Hot Springs, Ark., Calvin Binns and wife, Jeannie, Hiawatha, Quint Binns and wife, Linda, San Angelo, Tex., and Lonnie Binns and wife, Melinda, Pottsboro, Tex.; one sister, Jo Wimp and husband, Don, Oswego; two sisters-in-law, Kelly Binns, Great Bend, and Norma Sherwin and husband, Warren, Scott City; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Allen Binns, Jim Binns and Sandy Binns; and two sisters, Betty Jeffries and Nancy Gray.

Visitation will be Friday, July 14, from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Price and Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington Street, Scott City.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Scott City, with Steve Payne presiding.

Interment will be held in the Scott County Cemetery.
