Andy Newland

David Andrew “Andy” Newland, 55, died July 19, 2025, at his home in Scott City.

He was born on Jan. 21, 1970, in Abilene, the son of Jerry Bob and Catherine (Thompson) Newland.

A resident of Scott City since 2006, moving from Cottonwood Falls, he was a retired police officer.

He was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Scott City.

Andy was very active in law enforcement throughout his career. He was a firearms instructor, K-9 handler, worked with the Kansas Highway Patrol, was part of a SWAT team, and started his career as a correctional facility officer.

Survivors include his spouse, Suzy Patty, Scott City; sons, Gregory Newland, Dighton, and Christopher Williamson, Corpus Christi, Tex.; daughter, Katy Newland, Wichita; both parents, Silver Lake; sister, Jenny White, Pegram, Tenn.; three brothers and four other siblings; one granddaughter, Lilith Newland; two aunts, one cousin, and several nieces and nephews.

A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
