Delores J. Hughes

Delores J. Hughes, 82, died, Oct. 20, 2021, at Valley Manor Center, Excelsior Springs, Mo.

S h e was born on Sept. 5, 1939, in Scott City, the daughter of Lee L. and Gertrude V. (Cauthon) Brown.

Delores graduated from Scott Community High School in 1957 and moved to Kansas City, Mo., where she lived until 1975, moving to Excelsior Springs.

On Dec. 29, 1960, she married Paul R. Hughes in Scott City. He died on June 5, 2004, in Liberty, Mo.

Delores worked for Dr. Ed Hunter for over 30 years as a dental hygienist. She and her husband owned and operated Buddy Hughes Chevrolet-Buick, Inc., and later Re-Con Auto Repair, all in Excelsior Springs.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Scott City.

Survivors include her one brother, Larry Brown, and wife, Susan, Scott City, and two nieces, Cherie Kardelis and husband, Tony, Lakewood, Colo., and Kori Davis and husband, Sage, Scott City.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be Fri., Oct. 29, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Price and Sons Funeral Home, 401 Washington St., Scott City.

Graveside service will be held on Sat., Oct. 30, 2:00 p.m., at the Scott County Cemetery with Pastor Steve Payne presiding.
