Gail Sharp

Gail Edwin Sharp, 93, Healy, died March 15, 2026.

Gail was bom on July 8, 1932, in Healy to Marcus Brown (Brownie) Sharp and Alta (Durham) Sharp.

He graduated from Healy High School in 1950. Shortly after, Gail was drafted into the U.S. Army and served a year in Germany and one year split between Fort Sill, Okla., and Fort Carson, Colo.

He then returned to Healy to his wife, Mildred, who he married in 1956. Gail was a devoted husband of almost 70 years, a milestone they both cherished. She survives.

Following his return from military duty, Gail, along with his brother Gerald, established Sharp Bros. Seed Co. in Healy.

They had been raised in their father’s grain company, learning the business and farming, before the brothers created their own business in 1958.

Throughout his many years in the seed business, Gail developed fond friendships and served on several boards, including president of the Western Seed Association, the Kansas Seed Industry Association, and the Kansas Crop Improvement Association.

He was an active board member with the Society of Range Management, American Forage and Grassland Council, American Seed Trade Association, board supervisor of the Lane County Conservation District, served on the board of directors at First National Bank of Dighton, and was a trustee of the Healy Methodist Church.

Gail was a man of strong faith, quiet strength and unwavering kindness.

Other survivers include his sons, David Sharp and wife, Cheri, Greeley, Colo., Daniel Sharp and wife, LaFonda, Healy; grandson, Tyler Sharp and wife, Hanna; granddaughters, Kyla Hunter and husband, Mitch, and Kiara Dandurand and husband. Tyler; step-granddaughter Paula Vulgamore and husband, Brian, Scott City step-grandson Devin Holloway, Arvada, Colo, great-grandsons, Kane, Lincoln and Declan; a great-granddaughter, Kendall; step-great-grandsons, Parker Vulgamore and wife, Marissa, Boston, Mass., and Camden Vulgamore, Manhattan; step-great-granddaughter, Paige Vulgamore, College Station, Tex.; and many Sharp/Durham cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Gerald Sharp and wife Betty; and brother Mark Sharp.

Visitation will be Thurs., March 19, from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Price and Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Scott City.

The funeral service will be Sat., March 21, 2:30 p.m., at the Methodist Church in Healy, with Pastor Jee Sook Gil presiding.

Interment will be in the Healy Cemetery.
