Geneva M. (Torrez) Wright

Geneva M. (Torrez) Wright, 74, died, June 23, 2023, at Hays Medical Center, Hays.

She was born on Jan. 12, 1949, at the Mexican Village of Dodge City, the daughter of Epimenio Torrez and Susana (Garcia) Torrez.

Geneva enjoyed dancing, fishing and spending time with her family in her spare time. She also worked as a cook for several restaurants in the area.

She married Gary Wright on April 27, 2018, in Garden City. He survives.

Geneva loved all animals and especially her beloved dog, Charlie.

She is also survived by two sons, Travis Lauber and wife, Cruz, Garden City, and Sean Torrez and wife, Nerida, Dodge City; one step-daughter, Samantha Sharp and husband, Zach, Scott City; two step-sons, Adam Wright, Palm Springs, Calif., and Preston Wright, Scott City; one brother, Manuel Torrez and wife, Corrine, Jetmore; two sisters, Rita S. Esparza and husband, Rogelio, and Corina J. Torrez-Castillo, Dodge City; two granddaughters, Erica and Carla; a greatgranddaughter, Iridessa; two great-grandsons, Jahmari and Dezmend; as well as 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, Lester Lauber; one infant daughter, Geneva Lauber; and a niece, Anisa S. Torrez.

Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, 1901 6th Ave., Dodge City, on Fri., June 30, from noon to 7:00 p.m., with the vigil service to begin at 7:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Sat., July 1, 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Matthew Kumi presiding.

Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City.
