Georgia Maxine Matthies Carlson, 92, died, Sept. 1, 2023, at Park Lane Nursing Home, Scott City.

She was born on Jan. 26, 1931, in Dighton, the daughter of George R. and Lota (Owen) McCoy.

A resident of Scott City since 1966, moving from Dighton, she worked in sales at JM McDonald, and Whitings throughout her life.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Scott City.

On June 26, 1949, She married Robert D. Matthies in Dighton. He died on Sept. 28, 1984, in Scott City.

Survivors include her daughters, Janet Tecklenburg and husband, George, Hutchinson, and Kim Musick and husband, Mike, Weatherford, Tex.; son, Craig Matthies and wife, Marcia, Scott City; sister, Charlene Dowell, Dighton; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and six great-greatgrandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters and one grandson, Lucas Matthies.

The funeral service was held Sept. 6 at the Community Christian Church in Scott City with Rev. Scott Wagner presiding.

Interment was in the Scott County Cemetery.
