Janice Schroth

Janice Marie Schroth, 85, died March 7, 2026, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City.

She was born on Dec. 10, 1940, in Marienthal, to John Joseph and Barbara Pauline (Kessler) Chvilicek.

Janice spent her early years in Marienthal before her family relocated to Belpre in 1960. In her later years, Janice moved to Larned, and just a year and a half ago, she made Scott City her home.

She worked in various roles over the years, including janitorial and laundry positions at several hospitals and nursing homes.

Janice was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Scott City.

On Feb. 8, 1980, Janice married James Schroth. He died on Nov. 1, 1992, in Belpre.

Survivors include her brother, Jerry Chvilicek, Kinsley; sister-in-law, Alvera Chvilicek, Marienthal; one stepdaughter, Kathy Schroth, Larned; seven nieces, Dalene Haynes and husband, Rusty, Scott City, Jeannie Moore, Garden City, Karla Limon, Garden City, Elizabeth Chvilicek and partner, Thomas Goodall, Margaret Collins, Glasco, Mary Marotz and husband, John, Cedar Park, Tex., and Pauline Chvilicek, Laurel, Md.; two nephews, Leonard Chvilicek and wife Teresa, Derby, and Jimmy Rohrbough and wife, Carol, Garden City; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as several great-great-nieces and nephews.

Janice was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harry, Raymond and James Chvilicek; sister, Irene Rohrbough; sister-in-law, Patsy Chvilicek; niece, Kathy Gregory; and nephews, Derek Rohrbough, Lonnie Rohrbough, Galen Rohrbough, John Gregory and Willie Collins.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 12, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Price and Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Scott City.

The funeral service will be Sat., March 14, 10:30 a.m., at Price and Sons Funeral Home with Fr. Don Bedore presiding.

Interment will be held at the Belpre Cemetery at 4:00 p.m.
