Johanna Biel

Johanna Biel, 94, died, Feb. 19, 2023, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City.

She was born on May 6, 1928, in Marienthal to George and Frances (Berning) Kessler.

She dedicated her life to her family, her community and her church. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marienthal.

On Oct. 21, 1952, she married Albert Biel, Jr., in Marienthal. He died on Feb. 8, 2020.

Surviving family include her children, Ron Biel and wife, Verla, Callaway, Nebr., Stan Biel and wife, Sherry, Marienthal, Bonnie Owens and husband, Perry, Minneapolis and Delores Hembree, Amarillo, Tex.; one brother, Hilary Kessler and wife, Connie, Scott City; one sister, Juanita Dinges, Ness City; one brotherin- law, Eugene Biel and wife, Billie, Leoti; and one sister-in-law, Katherine Berning, Leoti; 13 grandchildren, 29 greatgrandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, and one sonin- law.

Vigil service will be held Fri., Feb. 24, 7:00 p.m., at St. Mary Church in Marienthal with Fr. Tim Hickey presiding.

Funeral mass will be on Sat., Feb. 25, 10:30 a.m., at the church with Father Tim Hickey and Fr. Don Bedore presiding.
